A few important reminders:
Arleta Triangle Project is having the first Dig N' Dish of the season starting tomorrow, Saturday, March 28th. Folks will be out there at 10am and will be there till early afternoon. Come and meet your neighbors, help pull some weeds and share your vision of the site. We hope to be making some improvements this year.
The Portland Mercado is having their grand opening on Saturday, April 11th. This is going to be a big event and a true community celebration. We expect to see increased on-street parking in the neighborhood that weekend with the large turn-out. We are encouraging people to walk, ride bikes, and to use public transit if possible. The Mercado did experience some vandalism within the past couple of weeks and so did businesses along 82nd. Keep an eye out folks and you can always report suspicious activities using Portland's non-emergency line at 503-823-3333. Neighborhood Clean-Up is Saturday, May 2nd from 9:00am to 2:30pm at Arleta School. We are looking for volunteers to help coordinate the event, to flyer the neighborhood to spread the word, and to be onsite that day to help unload the junk. There are perks to helping -- 1 free dump load, food, and you have first dibs at anything you would like to take home. This is our biggest fundraiser of the year, plus its significantly cheaper than going to the dump! Street Tree Inventory volunteers! This summer our neighborhood is taking part in Portland Street Tree Inventory. Volunteers are guided by Urban Forestry staff, who provide training, tools, and together collect data on tree species, size, health, site conditions, and available planting spaces. Data is then analyzed by Urban Forestry staff, and findings are presented to the neighborhood at an annual Tree Summit at the end of the season in November. Foster-Powell completed an street tree inventory last summer. MSANA received notification today that Woodsong Property Renovation Partners, LLC will soon be submitting an application for a new MRAA (Major Residential Alteration and Addition) permit at 6928 SE Raymond Court.
The project will preserve an existing 1906 house, rather than demolish it. The house will be lifted, and a new floor will be constructed underneath it, atop a new daylight basement. Three flats will thus be created in this structure. There will be no change in the footprint of the structure. Woodsong Property Renovation Partners anticipates this project will be able to create new affordable market-rate housing in the neighborhood. When they bought it, the structure was completely uninhabitable and in need of major renovation.
Woodsong Property is currently awaiting final project engineering, and will submit for permits as soon as possible. They expect construction to begin as soon as permits are issued following the 35-day waiting period (after April 25th, 2015).
Per the city's MRAA regulations, there is a 35 day delay period from the date that this notice is sent ( Friday, March 20th, 2015), or that all notifications are completed.
